Candle Care

Treat your candle with care and love

We want you to enjoy your candle experience. Follow these simple instructions and safety precautions to ensure you will get the very best from your candle each and every time!

 Trim your wick

Wick trimming helps to control the flame and gets rid of any build up on the wick which may cause debris to fall into the wax pool. We recommend trimming to 5mm.

Burn Time/Full Melt Pool

Burn your candle for 2 - 4 hours at a time (depending on the candle size) and ensure the melt pool reaches the edges of the vessel before extinguishing. This will help prevent "tunnelling" and ensure the candle burns completely. This is especially important the first time you burn your candle.

Keep your wax clean

Always keep your candle and wax pool free from any debris, for example wick trimmings and matches.

Protect your surfaces

Always place your candle on a level, fire resistant surface while burning. We advise to never burn your candle longer than 4 hours at a time.

Avoid Draughts

Candles perform their very best in still air. If you cannot avoid draughts, follow the candle safety above and ensure your candle is kept away from curtains, clothing and things that can catch fire. Also turn your candle periodically to help avoid your candle burning unevenly.

Putting it out

We advise using a candle snuffer to extinguish your candle, this will prevent your wick from drifting off centre and maximise the burn time. Blowing your candle out is not recommended as the liquid wax may splatter and your wick may continue to glow and emit a small amount of smoke, which is perfectly natural.

Once your candle is extinguished, allow the wax to completely solidify and follow the candle storage advice.

Storing your Candle

Candles are sensitive to light and temperature, especially when made from natural wax. To avoid your candle cracking or sweating, store in an upright position in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep your candle dust free by covering the candle with a lid or dust cover.

 Saying Goodbye

It's always sad when we get to the end of our favourite candle but once you wax is 1cm from the bottom, it's officially time to say goodbye.

Make sure you re-use or recycle your candle vessel. All our candle vessels  made from aluminium or glass for easy recycling. Or check out these ideas for ways to re-use your candle jar here.
